Which one should you choose?
- You like your car's colour: clear PPF. It protects the paint and stays almost invisible.
- You want a new colour for a year or two: vinyl wrap is usually the lower-cost way to change the look.
- You want a new colour and protection: Colour PPF, which is thicker and hydrophobic.
- You want a matte look but like your colour: a matte clear film such as TRORO AX3 Matte changes the finish and keeps the colour.
Colour-change rules in the Gulf
A full colour change is a registration matter, so check before you start. In Dubai, you apply for the colour change through Dubai Police, with separate steps in Abu Dhabi. In Oman, the ROP's 2026 advisory allows matte paint protection films and wraps as long as they keep an appropriate finish. Tell your insurer too, so a claim isn't refused later.
A clear film doesn't change the colour. A matte clear film changes the finish, so ask your local authority if you're unsure how it's treated.
Care and lifespan
Both films hate harsh chemicals and high-pressure washing near the edges. PPF generally lasts longer than a wrap because it's thicker and built for impact: UAE guides give 5–10 years for quality PPF. See how to make PPF last.
